Studio Founded by AC Origin's Bayek Will Release a Game in EA Originals
Abubakar Salim is not only a famous TV and voice actor, but also the CEO of Silver Rain Games. The team has just partnered with Electronic Arts as part of the EA Originals program.
EA Originals is EA's program for supporting creative, yet smaller dev teams. It brought the company a lot of good thanks to such titles as Unravel, Sea of Solitude or A Way Out. Another small team has come under EA's wings, this time it's Silver Rain Games from the UK.
The studio was founded in December 2019, and its CEO is Abubakar Salim, a man who, in addition to working in gamedev, also deals with acting. Movie buffs may know him from the HBO series titled Raised by Wolves, in which he played the Father, and gamers certainly know his voice, as Salim dubbed Bayek in Assassin's Creed Origins. The star shared his enthusiasm about teaming up with EA (via Polygon):
“In what has been a challenging year, we have assembled an extraordinarily creative and worldly team who are eager to work on projects that bring their global perspectives to life. Together we will construct an exciting universe that unlocks the power of storytelling and the brilliance that brings. We couldn’t be happier to work with the EA Originals team, who are phenomenal partners for us as we begin this journey. Not only does each of them understand our vision to inspire and entertain, but they also welcome this exciting new age of game development.”
We don't yet know the details of any of the titles developed by Silver Rain Games, but from Salim's statement above and the information posted on the company's website, it's clear that we're dealing with ambitious and unconventional developers who intend to create narratively and artistically valuable games. We'll probably have to wait a bit longer for details.
