Steam Received New, Very Useful Feature. From Now on You'll Easily Record Your Gameplay
A new, expanded gameplay recording feature arrived on Steam - for now in beta. What is more important, the functionality is compatible with Steam Deck and supports all games, even those outside the official library.
The Steam platform has been improved with a new feature, specifically an advanced tool for capturing and sharing gameplay content. For now, it's only available in beta version.
The Steam tool allows for recording short clips and longer materials, their playback, editing, cutting, as well as sharing - all within one interface.
Importantly, the new functionality is fully compatible with Steam Deck and supports all games – also those outside official libraries.
However, that's not the end of it, as Steam recording not only offers on-demand clips, but also the ability to record in the background. This means that our gameplay will be automatically recorded every time any title is launched. What matters, however, is that we will set the automatic recording time and the disk space allocated for this purpose. After the disk space is filled, the oldest recording will be overwritten with a clip from the new gameplay.
As Valve assures, the recording function has been designed with respect for our privacy, therefore only the image from the games will be captured, not what we have on the desktop.
To test the functionality in question, go to Steam settings, select the "Interface" tab, and then choose one of the two beta options. Once you do this, a new section will appear in the settings: "game recording." When you switch to it, you can choose whether the gameplay should be recorded in the background or upon request.
