Sandbox action game State of Decay 2 has received a new update. The patch number 34 is called Curveball and introduces a lot of new features.
- The eponymous Curveballs are dynamic events that can occur randomly or in response to player actions. They contain up to three different effects that affect various aspects of the game world.
- Curveballs can affect, among other things, zombie mutations, the health and effectiveness of the community and base, as well as global aspects of the world, such as chances to collect loot, resource availability or the appearance of new enemy survivors.
- Some Curveballs will only affect a specific location on the map, while the effects of others will span across the entire world.
- Some of these events will pass on their own after a certain amount of time, while others will require specific actions to complete them.
- The devs have added new user interface elements to help players understand and track active Curveballs and their effects.
Despite being five years old, the game is still under active development. Source: Microsoft.
As an interesting note, it is worth mentioning that the update was developed in large part by a new team in the form of Wushu Studios. The game's original creators (Undead Labs) needed this help, as they are currently busy with new projects, including the third installment of the series.
Recall that State of Decay 2 was released in 2018 on PC and Xbox One, and two years later a version was released for Xbox Series X and S.
