Dragon Age Veteran Thinks 4 Romance Options in Starfield is a Good Sign
Four romance options in Starfield are a good sign for the game. That's the position of a veteran developer who has worked on Dragon Age.
The ability to romance in video games is an important mechanic for many people. It is present in many titles - including Dragon Age, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077 or Skyrim. Our other half can also be found in Starfield, but only four romance options will be available. Is this a good thing? According to a veteran who worked on the aforementioned Dragon Age it is a very good sign.
What matters is quality, not quantity
David Gaider was the lead screenwriter working on Dragon Age. In his opinion, the 4 options for romance in Starfield is a very good sign, because as he admitted: "quality is more important than quantity, at least when it comes to the issue of narrative in games.".
It's hard to disagree with him, as it's worth remembering the romance options in Skyrim, of which there were quite a few, but the interactions were shallow, and the stories related to our companions (if any) were not very engaging, although this is, of course, a subjective opinion.
In the case of Dragon Age, and especially the first two parts, the situation was somewhat different. The possible love interests were relatively few, but they had more elaborate stories, and interactions with them made the world around them seemed more alive and natural, although this is also a subjective opinion.
Four romance options were also available in Cyberpunk 2077 and there is still a discussion among players about the superiority of Panam over Judy and vice versa. Will similar discussions apply to romance in Starfield? Very possibly, but we will find out on September 6, because that's when Bethesda's latest title will officially debut on the market.
