Starfield Will be Better Because It's Not Coming to PS5, Says Todd Howard
Todd Howard from Bethesda gave an interview in which he revealed new facts about Starfield.
Bethesda head Todd Howard was a guest on Lex Fridman's podcast. During the conversation, which lasted almost three hours, a lot of interesting information about Starfield was revealed .
Development
- The lack of a PlayStation 5 version has positively affected the development of Starfield, as it enabled the creators to focus more on PC and Xbox Series S / Xbox Series S console releases.
- The console version is being asissted by top engineers from the Xbox division at Microsoft.
- Console exclusivity for Microsoft's device is nothing new, as Bethesda made its debut in this market by porting Morrowind to the first Xbox.
- Howard said that in the case of the team's previous works, Bethesda has always focused more on Xbox releases than PlayStation releases.
- The decision to delay the game was correct. It is possible that the game could have been completed on time without it, but the risk of failure was too great.
- Todd Howard admits that with Starfield the pressure the developers feel is greater, as the game is expected to help sell more Xbox consoles
Gameplay in Starfield
- Planetary systems in the game are to have levels, so survival in them will require a properly levelled up character.
- The game will offer a large selection of space suits, which are expected to offer various bonuses for protection against poisonous gases, temperature and other threats.
- Robots will appear among the enemies.
- Howard reiterated earlier information that we will never run out of fuel in the middle of space travel. However, he added that such an option may appear in a possible hardcore survival mode in the future.
- The game's virtual world is expected to be vibrant beyond the planets as well. Among other things, we will be able to observe other ships traversing space or landing in star ports. Many of them are also expected to initiate contact with the player.
- The game will feature four characters to romance, and each of these relationships is expected to be much more developed than what was offered in Fallout.
Starfield is scheduled to be released in the first half of next year. The game is headed for PC and Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S and will be available through the Game Pass subscription from launch day.
