Invisible Walls Will Return in Starfield; Don't Expect Free Exploration
It seems that in Starfield we will not explore entire planets without restrictions. The player will encounter invisible walls at some point during exploration.
Starfield will be a huge RPG with tons of possibilities and a huge open universe. However, it turns out that the exploration of planetary surfaces will not be unlimited.
A video from Starfield, which shows how far the player is able to go, has appeared on the web. The original footage was removed by Bethesda, but there are people who are re-sharing it. It shows that after walking all the way ahead after nearly 10 minutes you will hit an invisible wall, and you will see the following message on the screen:
"Boundary reached. Open the map to start exploring another region [of the planet - ed. note] or return to your ship."
As you can see, Bethesda did not depart from certain habits when creating Starfield - also in Fallout 4 reaching the end of the map was also signaled by a message displayed on the screen.
Some players believe that the presence of invisible walls in Starfield is not so bad. After all, there will be about 1,000 planets in the game, and 10% of them are expected to contain life - which means that the player will probably have the most interesting things to do on these planets. However, the presence of restrictions is a bit at odds with the words of Pete Hines, Bethesda's head of publishing. Some time ago he claimed that if the player feels like it, he can explore the entire planet on which they land.
Starfield will debut on September 6 on Xbox Series X/S consoles and PCs. Those who have decided to purchase the premium edition will be able to play 5 days earlier.
