Starfield Delayed to Avoid Cyberpunk 2077's Fate
According to Jason Schreier, Starfield's dalayed release is good news, as the developers working on it were worried that it would share the fate of Cyberpunk 2077.
Yesterday, Bethesda severely disappointed its fans by announcing that the release of Starfield has been postponed until next year. Now we know a little about the reasons for this decision.
- The source of this information is the reputable journalist Jason Schreier.
- He claims that when he spoke with Bethesda employees last year they were concerned about the November 2022 release date set for the game.
- The developers believed that it would be difficult to complete the game in this timeframe and feared that Starfield would become "the new Cyberpunk."
- This coincides with previous reports regarding the game's condition. In fact, a former Bethesda employee stated that the Starfield's engine leaves a lot to be desired, although the rest of the game looks promising. He also claimed that the title is huge and the creators may have overdid it with its content.
Recent years were full of game launches that clearly lacked much to be fully completed. Apart from Cyberpunk 2077 such a fate met, e.g. Battlefield 2042 and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. So it's good that Bethesda wants to avoid repeating these mistakes.
Starfield is now scheduled for release in the first half of next year, giving the developers a lot of time to complete the game. In addition to this title, the release of Redfall was also delayed.
People disappointed with the delay of Starfield may find some consolation in the information that soon the first gameplay from the game is to be shown. Most likely it will happen on June 12, during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. The game is going to be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S and it will simultanesouly launch in the Game Pass subscription.
