Bethesda Boasts 10/10 for Starfield and 1M Active Players at the Same Time
Starfield is doing very well on Steam and Xbox Series X/S. At the hottest moment, there were more than one million players in the game.
A day after the release of Bethesda's new RPG, the company has reason to be pleased. Phil Spencer revealed that at the peak of its debut day Starfield was played by more than one million players on PC and Xbox Series X/S (via X/Twitter).
This is another huge success for a single-player game after the phenomenal launch of Baldur's Gate III on PC and - this month - on PlayStation 5. The current record for Starfield on Steam is more than 295,500 concurrent players, and at the time of publishing this text there are almost 144,000 users of the platform in the game (via SteamDB).
This is a very good result for Bethesda's RPG, especially since - unlike BG3 - Starfield has absolutely no multiplayer options. It should also be noted that the title was released simultaneously on PCs and consoles. The third "Baldur" for a month conquered only PCs (although, to be fair, it still attracts crowds there: the record for the last 24 hours is 373 thousand players).
Success after success
Fans of single-player games should be pleased to know that yes Starfield, as well as Baldur's Gate 3 are among the top three bestsellers on Steam and among the ten most played games on Steam. Also here BG3 is ahead of the space RPG (at least at the moment; Starfield was at #1 for a while), but this is still an excellent result. Especially since the only games that have overtaken both of these titles are popular F2P games, with the immortal CSGO in the lead.
It should also be added that Starfield is expected to be Bethesda's and Xbox's biggest hit in terms of its presence on the wishlists of Steam users. This is what Phil Spencer assured in interview for CNBC.
Bethesda's new game is also doing quite well in terms of ratings. On Steam Starfield has more than 35.5 thousand reviews, 81% of which are positive. Here, too, it can be said that Bethesda loses to "Baldur", mainly due to shortcomings in the technical layer (judging by comments on the platform). Admittedly, some those, one would like to say, typical studio shortcomings give the players a lot of fun. Or ideas for bypassing the rules of the game - for example, stealing from NPCs without consequences (vide the video below).
