StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void already sold over 1 million copies
StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void sold over 1 million copies in 24 hours. This result is better than of Heart of the Swarm (the previous installment) and similar to Wings of Liberty.
The grand finale of StarCraft II trilogy turned out to be a commercial success. During the first 24 hours since the release StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void sold over 1 million copies, as Eurogamer learned from developers. Note that this was possible even though the next installment in Blizzard Entertainment’s space saga launched the same day as enormously anticipated Fallout 4. Obviously, StarCraft franchise has a huge fanbase of its own. However, it is possible that many players share their love between this sci-fi real-time strategy series and the postapocalyptic wasteland of Fallout, so they probably had to face a tough decision.
As noted by Eurogamer, day one results of Legacy of the Void are more or less on par with Wings of Liberty, the first part of the trilogy released in 2010. That title too saw 1 mln copies sold in its first day, which then turned into 1.5 mln after 48 hours and 3 mln after a month. The latest installment scored better than Heart of the Swarm, which managed to hit 1 mln threshold not until its second day. The current record-holder for the fastest-selling Blizzard’s game is Diablo III with its 3.5 mln copies sold on day one.
