STALKER veterans work on post-apocalyptic shooter. In Forest Reigns, we visit Paris, which has been taken over by nature
In Forest Reigns, we will traverse a conscious forest in post-apocalyptic Paris in an FPS game developed by veterans of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.
Veterans of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series announced a new game: Forest Reigns.
The independent Ukrainian team VG Entertainment treats their first project as a "return to the roots." The studio is led by Ruslan Didenko, who once oversaw the work on the third installment of the series: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. The developer was also the main gameplay designer in Clear Sky and helped in the creation of Shadow of Chornobyl.
According to Didenko's words, Forest Reigns immediately evokes associations with STALKER. It's an FPS with RPG elements set in a post-apocalyptic world that lives its own life. The player is expected to have a major impact on both it and the progression of the story. This is complemented by a realistic shooting system and equipment modification, as well as survival elements.
However, instead of the former nuclear power plant areas, Forest Reigns will take players to Paris and the titular forest, which has taken over the French capital. The devs describe it as a "conscious being, with his own dreams and intentions." Judging by the first trailer, it doesn't seem like it's just a metaphor.
Forest Reigns is heading to PC and there is no confirmed release date yet. It's worth noting that the minimum system requirements for the game have already appeared on the Steam card:
