Sonic the Hedgehog 2022

First of all, Sega announced Sonic the Hedgehog 2022, the next main installment of the series. This is a placeholder title and will be changed in the future.

Information made available about the project is modest. We know that the game is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Traditionally, the team working on the game is Sonic Team.

Sonic Origins

Another novelty turned out to be Sonic Origins. This is a collection of 16-bit installments of the series, including the games Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD.

All of these classic entries are expected to be enhanced with new features and additional content. No hardware platforms were given. The release is expected to take place next year.

Sonic Colors Ultimate

Another announcement was Sonic Colors Ultimate. As the title suggests, it will be an improved and expanded version of Sonic Colours, which was released in 2010 on the Nintendo Wii and NDS. Compared to the original, we can expect improved graphics, gameplay and additional content.

Sonic Colors Ultimate won't keep us waiting for long, because the game will debut on September 7 this year. There are versions planned for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The PC edition will be available exclusively on Epic Games Store. Blind Squirrel Entertainment is responsible for the refreshed version of the game.

Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps

Also planned is a two-episode animated series Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps. Fans of the franchise will be pleased to know that the voice of the blue hedgehog will provide Roger Craig Smith, the actor who played this character in the most classic cartoons from the series.

It was also revealed that the previously announced animated series Sonic Prime, which Netflix is working on, will have 24 episodes and will be released in 2022.

Sonic at Olympic Games Tokyo 2020: The Official Video Game, Two Point Hospital, and Minecraftt

Sega also announced that Sonic will appear in the mobile game Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020, released last year, as an additional skin.

The blue hedgehog with friends will also appear in the economic strategy game Two Point Hospital. The game will come with new free content including character outfits and additional items.

Further plans also include Sonic's cameo in Minecraft, but in this case no details were shared, except that the crossover will happen this year.
