Realism and Importance of Noise in Sniper Elite 5
Sniper Elite 5 will provide us with a realistic stealth experience. The developers have shared footage showcasing this gameplay segment.
- Developers of Sniper Elite 5 have shared information about the stealth system;
- While shooting we will have to consider which weapon will generate the least noise;
- Incapacitating enemies should be as realistic as possible. In achieving the desired effects, the devs were advised by a former soldier of the British parachute regiment.
Sneaking has always been an important part of the Sniper Elite series. In the latest installment, however, this segment is expected to be even more complex.
The developers shared information on the new features and ways to eliminate enemies in a short video.
The art of stealth
Sneaking in Sniper Elite 5 is supposed to be as realistic as possible. To achieve this goal, the developers turned to a specialist.
The advisor and actor taking part in the motion capture sessions was Paul Biddiss. He was a former soldier of a British Parachute Regiment, so you can tell he knows his stuff.
His support enabled the devs to record complex sequences of various ways to neutralize enemies. All of them are supposed to be real-life incapacitating moves, used by members of special forces. And there will be quite a few opportunities to use them.
Sniper Elite 5 boasts a complex environment full of enemy soldiers. On the map, however, we will also find a lot of hiding places and opportunities to sneak past enemies unnoticed.
By hiding in the tall grass, using hidden paths or simply avoiding the sight of guards, we will manage to infiltrate the enemy lines. However, this will not be the end of the attractions prepared by the developers.
In the game you will find many types of ammunition. Each of them will generate noise to a different degree. So if you do not want the whole town to hear you when you shoot, you will have to consider which weapon is the right choice in a given situation.
Pacifist sniper
Sniper Elite 5 is also supposed to offer the possibility of completing tasks in any way you can think of. This also applies to eliminating enemies.
Nothing will prevent you from completing the game by eliminating key targets only. Any enemy you encounter along the way can be stunned rather than killed.
However, we can expect that this task will be more difficult than the direct and deadly approach.
We'll see how it all works out in real life tomorrow. Sniper Elite 5 will debut on PC, PS4 and PS5 as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
