Skyrim in 60 FPS on PS5 Mod Now Available
Those playing The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition on PlayStation 5 can now download a special modification that enables them to run the game in 60 fps on Sony's latest console. Previously, a similar mod appeared on Xbox Series X/S.
- A mod for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition enables us to play in 60 fps on PlayStation 5;
- What's interesting, we can use it and still be able to earn trophies.
In late November we presented a mod to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition by Smudgey5000. With some simple changes in an .ini file he managed to make the improved version of Bethesda's masterpiece from 2011 run on Xbox Series X|S in 60 fps. But what about the owners of PlayStation 5 consoles? After all, they too have hardware powerful enough to run the fifth installment of the popular RPG series in high fps and certainly would not be offended if they were given such opportunity. And that's where the fans came to help, namely YouTube user known as MWright, who created a sistem mod of the project created by Smudgey5000. He presents it in the video below.
The mod weighs just a bit over 300 bytes, and although it is recommended for use on PlayStation 5, we can also try it on PlayStation 4 (remember that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition runs on Sony's latest console thanks to backwards compatibility and both platforms share the same mod database). Importantly, unlike most unofficial projects available for Bethesda's game on Sony's consoles, there is an option to use MWright's work while earning trophies. Simply install and enable the mod, then restart the game and disable or delete the project. We should retain 60 fps, but as we will "officially" not have any mod running, the achievements will remain active.
As we can see in the video above, MWright's mod is compatible with other mods to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition available on PlayStation. In this case, however, please note that the method for unlocking trophies described above will not work.
