Shock 2 Enhanced Edition Will Support VR
Nightdive shared new information about System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition. Apparently the title will offer support for VR sets.
Last year, System Shock 2 celebrated its 20th birthday. On this occasion, Nightdive announced the release of a refreshed version of the game. Yesterday on the company's official Twitter there was an entry reporting on the progress of work. It shows that System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition will offer support for VR technology.
The video shows how one of the developers is using Valve Index controllers to perform in-game activities - specifically to destroy the environment and fight. However, the image itself is not displayed in goggles, but on screen.
The release date of System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition remains unknown. Nightdive Studios doesn't share information about the progress of their work too often, making it difficult to estimate what stage the title is at. It is also worth remembering that the same group is working on porting the first installment to a new graphics engine. However, it is unknown whether this title will also support VR.
It's worth mentioning that the original System Shock 2 has burned its place in the history of digital gameplay and for years has been regarded as a model example of a space survival horror game. The game enjoys iconic status to this day, so many mods have been created over the years to improve the shortcomings of the work.
