original message

More than a decade after release Skyrim still has not lived up to see a successor, but it still attracts the attention of many players (enough to take a look at stats on Steam). The title lives primarily through mods: from "simple" changes in appearance to ambitious projects full of new quests, locations, etc.

Some modders also decide to "borrow" mechanics from other games and expand Bethesda's work with them. Thus, for example Shadow of Skyrim will make it possible for players to check out the Nemesis system, known from the series of action games set in Middle-earth from Monolith Productions, in Skyrim. Its creator - internet user known as Syclonix - revealed the mod's release date in a post on Reddit.

Announced in May, Shadow of Skyrim changes the death system from the typical "load save file" to a solution known from Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. If we die in battle with an NPC (or a dragon or even... a mud crab), our character will come back to life, only weakened - for example, unable to use swords or shields - and in a random location.

In addition, the killer will have stolen our equipment and be able to use it against us. Of course, following the example of Monolith's series, our "nemesis" will also receive a name and title, as well as special bonuses that will make him/her/it a more powerful adversary. Syclonix also assures that his creation will work in VR mode and with other projects, for example, adding new enemies.

Shadow of Skyrim is scheduled to be released on August 6, 2022 on Nexus Mods and will work with the Special Edition, Anniversary Edition and Skyrim VR.
