Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Uses Only 10% of Venom Lines; Separate Game Increasingly Likely
Rumors of a DLC (or even a separate game) for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 that would focus on Venom are becoming more and more likely. Tony Todd, the symbiote's voice actor, has revealed that the game's developers used only a small portion of the character's dialogue lines.
It's been more than a month since players started webslinging in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Shortly after its release, tentative talk began to emerge about a potential DLC or a separate project that would focus on the story's main antagonist, Venom.
Hope for this has now been fueled by the symbiote's voice actor, Tony Todd, at last weekend's Fan Expo in San Francisco (November 24-26).
- Todd pointed out, that only 10% of the dialogue lines he recorded for Venom were used in the game.
- This may mean that Insomniac Games will use the rest of them in a potential DLC or a separate project.
- Interestingly, the actor also mentioned the recording of the parts in which it was Miles Morales who was "possessed" by the symbiote. Ultimately, the developers decided not to use them in the game.
Jon Paquette, in charge of narration in the game, said a month ago that it is primarily up to the fans and their reactions when it comes to a possible expansion to Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Well, it goes without saying that most gamers would certainly want another adventure in New York.
This is evidenced by the ratings of the second part of Spidey's adventures. Currently on Metacritic the title has an average rating of 9.1/10 based on nearly seven thousand user reviews.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which launched exlusively on PlayStation 5 on October 20, has also been nominated for the game of the year award at The Game Awards 2023. The gamewill compete for the statuette against, among others, Baldur's Gate 3 or Alan Wake 2.
Let's also point out that Insomniac Games is currently developing one more title set in the Marvel universe. The new game featuring Wolverine in the lead role will appear probably in 2025.
