While unlocking the Archon Archetype in Remnant II is now not a particularly difficult task, the discovery of this class itself required players to do things that most developers do not look upon with a favorable eye.

Released at the end of July, Remnant II is currently one of the most popular games on Steam. We just learned that on all platforms the game has already been purchased by more than one million people. The reasons why the soulslike shooter from Gunfire Games is doing so well are many, and one of the most important is the fact that it contains numerous secrets that players have to uncover as they play... and more.

One of the recently revealed tidbits in Remnant II is the secret Archon class. Admittedly, there would be nothing unusual about it, if it weren't for the fact that in order to find out about its existence at all, one has to do something that many developers would have banned us for - dig through the game files..

Developers of Remnant II, aware that they would not guard against dataminers, hid information about the secret class and directions on how to unlock it specifically in the game's source files.

The aforementioned datamining is, in general, not welcomed by game developers. Scouring the files not only enables the players to get information they would normally have to discover during the game, but also to find clues about, among other things, upcoming content that the developers have not yet announced.

In the case of Remnant II not only did the developers give permission for such activities, but also decided to use the game files to play with the community.

Archon class - how to unlock it?

To unlock the Archon, you no longer need to comb through the game files. The dataminers have shared with us the requirements to enjoy the new class.

The first step is to advance the Invider archetype to level 5 with the WormHole skill active, and level the Explorer to level 10 with the Fortune Hunter skill active. Then you need to perform the following actions:

  1. Put on the Leto amulet.
  2. Put on the Amber Moonstone ring.
  3. Put on Anastasija's Inspiration ring.
  4. Put on Zania's Malice ring.
  5. Put on the Black Cat Band ring.
  6. Put on the Realmwalker armor.
  7. Equip yourself with the main weapon: Ford's Scattergun.
  8. Equip yourself with a secondary weapon: Cube Gun.
  9. Equip yourself with a melee weapon: Labyrinth Staff.
  10. Equip yourself with the Void Heart relic.

When you have met all the above requirements, go to the "damaged door" located in the Labyrinth. After passing through it, you will be taken to the next maze, where you will find an item called Strange Box. This is your pass to gain access to the Archon class.

Remnant II - popularity

Finally, returning to the game's popularity on Steam, at the time of writing this post Gunfire Games' title has 13,424 reviews, 80% of which are positive. Remnant II also enjoys a huge number of active players. According to the charts on SteamDB each day at its peak the title is played by nearly 100,000 players (on July 30 it was up to 110,856 people).
