Screenshots from Life By You Show Developer's Progress Before the Game Was Canceled
Players have noted that unofficial screenshots of Life By You give the game a better testimonial than the publisher's recent materials.
Previously unreleased screenshots from the canceled Life By You have been leaked online. The artists who worked on the project - Richard Kho, Eric Maki, and Chris Lewis - showed off their works that they prepared for the would-be rival of The Sims series from Paradox Interactive.
These graphics were put together by SimMatticaly, a content creator who is a huge Sims fan (via X).
Life By You stirred up a lot of emotions as one of the potential rivals to The Sims, released by a renowned publisher. However, after delaying early access, the project ultimately ended up in the trash. The publisher admitted that it was a "clear failure" for Paradox, although one of the developers had more faith in the title.
To be honest, visually the screenshots don't differ from the last official materials made available before LBY was deleted. Nonetheless, several differences can be noticed: a more developed character editor and the environment seem to be a bit more refined.
Hence the comments from internet users, according to whom the game actually looks much better on the screenshots. It seems to confirm the words of one of the former devs, that the team made significant progress before Paradox condemned Life By You to losses.
The game doesn't look like a finished game in these screenshots. Players still noticed the existing shortcomings familiar from the official presentations. According to these people, although there is clear progress, the devs still have a lot to do to ensure that the title actually meets the expectations of Sims fans and the publisher. Especially in terms of gameplay.
