Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra - Users Report Breaking Camera Glass
On the company's official forum, some users of Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra complain that their phones have cracked the lens protection glass for no reason. They also complain that the company is neglecting the matter and the warranty does not cover the repair.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- Users of Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra complain that the glass protecting camera lenses sometimes cracks for no apparent reason;
- The company has yet to officially refer to the matter;
- Damage is considered "cosmetic" and is not covered by the warranty.
Some users of Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra complain thatthe glass protecting camera lenses on their device has cracked for no apparent reason. Sometimes they talk about harmless scratches, but in some cases, the damage is very clear. Reports about the issues have appeared on the official forum of the company.
"Both mine and my wife's have cracked glass on the cameras. Neither of us have dropped or been rough with them. Both are in cases. Pretty sure both broke in pockets", we read.
Interestingly, according to the users, the company is waving the matter off. The situation has not been referred to in any official announcement, and the company's employees present on the forum advise users to contact one of its branches (it is worth noting that a large part of the branches is not operating in connection with the coronavirus pandemic). What's worse, Samsung describes the damage as "cosmetic", which means that it is not covered by the warranty.
"We are sorry to hear about the crack on your camera lens. Unfortunately, Samsung Phone warranties does not cover cosmetic damage. If you are enrolled in Samsung Premium Care, you can set up a repair at an authorized Samsung Repair Center or Partners", we read in response to the forum.
There is no certainty as to what is causing the damage - it may be a defect in the some of the models or the effect of an unfortunate coincidence, but it is also impossible to rule out some design flaw related to the strong protrusion of the lens panel. In the latter case, there will certainly be many more complaining customers (so far, there are eleven pages on the forum devoted to this issue). Unfortunately, in the case of the first scenario, it may be difficult for users to prove to Samsung that the phones were not destroyed by irresponsible use.
