Rumor: A Suicide Squad Game from the Devs of Arkham Origins
Quite credible reports suggest that a Destiny-like action game set in the DC Comics universe is currently in development. It's possible that the Rocksteady studio, known for the Arkham series, are working on this project.
- An on-line action game set in the DC Comics universe,
- Gotham and Star City will be among the locations,
- First trailer at the beginning of June,
- Demo and gameplay at E3.
4Chan once again offered reports about an unannounced project set in the comic universe of DC. The title isn't specified, but it's possible it will be the Suicide Squad. Those rumors always have to be taken with a pinch of slat, but this time the info seems quite reliable, as it based on internal marketing documents, prepared in exactly the same style as the previous leak concerning Mortal Kombat 11, which turned out to be true. In addition, false reports are often quickly demented by Jason Schreier of Kotaku. This time, however, he refused to comment on the matter, stating only that he did not want to spoil the surprise.
Let us now move on to the specifics of this unannounced project. It seems that it will be a Destiny 2 or Tom Clancy's The Division 2-style game, that is a multiplayer PvE action game, which will be supported over years. The release is planned for next year and will be preceded by an early-access debut.
The game will supposedly be revealed on June 4th this year with a CG trailer. It will feature Ra's al Ghul, one of Batman's most famous opponents. This super villain is also supposed to be a boss in one of the raids. The first location to be shown is supposed to be Gotham, and during the E3, journalists will be able to play a demo set in this metropolis. The project will also include the Star City, the home town of Green Arrow, but it is unknown whether it will be available in Los Angeles.
During the E3, an extensive gameplay should also be released, showcasing the core elements of the game, such as combat, character superpowers, equipment system, and cooperation. The video will also demonstrate non-linear role-playing missions, the course of which will depend on the decisions of the players.
The reports do not specify who is developing this project, but it's quite possibly the Rocksteady studio, the authors of three installments in the Arkham series. Another candidate would be WB Games Montreal, the creators of Batman: Arkham Origins, but recent speculations suggests that this team is currently busy deveoping a new game with Batman in the lead role, in which we will face the Owl Tribunal. This makes Rocksteady an even more likely developer, especially since last year, the team hired people specializing in the so-called "games as service," i.e. network productions developed over the years.
