Rumor: Final Fantasy XVI „Closer Than We Woud Think”

Rumors in online forums indicate that Final Fantasy XVI should already have been announced and it may launch much faster than we assume.

From the remake of seventh installment, we go straight to sixteenth installment

During one of the heated discussions of users on the ResetEra forum, unofficial information about the current status of Final Fantasy XVI was given. The leak came from user Navtra (considered by the moderators to be a reliable source). These are his words:

"[FF]XVI is real. It was supposed to get announced in June's event. It's supposedly closer than most people would think. It has some kind of PS5 exclusivity (it was vague back then but it seems to be full timed exclusivity now). And I have no idea why they haven't announced it yet."

The lack of any reports is a strange thing, because according to Navtra, Project Athia is in a much earlier development phase than Final Fantasy XVI (and both titles are Square Enix projects developed by people connected with the FF series). The games will probably not be seen on August 6 at the State of Play event, as Sony is not going to announce any exclusive games on it.
