Announcement of Key Feature's Removal From Rocket League Enraged Players
The developers of Rocket League have announced the removal of a beloved feature from the game - trading items between players. Fans are furious and loudly oppose the decision.
Rocket League is a game that is very popular primarily because of its highly satisfying, competitive gameplay and the fact that it is a free-to-play title. The game has now become the center of attention due to the announcement of the removal of a feature liked by players, which was met with their great dissatisfaction. We are talking about the ability to trade items.
"It's pretty much half of the game".
Responsible for Rocket League, studio Psyonix announced on the official website the changes that await their game in the near future. Namely, on December 5, the ability to trade items between players will be disabled. The developer explained this decision as follows:
"We are making this change to comply with Epic Games' general approach to cosmetic items and item store rules, where items cannot be exchanged, transferred or sold. This opens up the possibility of some Rocket League vehicles appearing in other Epic Games games in the future."
The purpose of this change seems obvious - to make more money. Restricting the trading of items between players in Epic's intention should increase the revenue from their sale.
This is not the first case of changing the economy in Rocket League. After Epic took over Psyonix in 2019, the game introduced schemes with which to craft items using credits, the internal currency with which you also buy items in the store. Players exchanged rare items with each other inside the game, using, for example, the website called Rocket League Garage.
It's not hard to guess that players are enraged by this decision, giving vent to it, for example, on Reddit. Epithets such as "embarrassing", "misguided" and others are being raised, the latter of which, due to the wording, I can not quote. One of them wrote:
"Trading is pretty much half of the game! They are going to take away this opportunity from us and pretend that nothing happened? I know it's just a game, but Epic, read what people have to say. How detached are you from the community? Have you guys even played your game? Do you realize that trading is - correction, WAS - a huge part of the game that players loved? This is a totally misguided decision."
Some accuse the developer that it hasn't done anything to improve the title for several years, doesn't communicate with players and is destroying his game through its decisions.
Interestingly, a petition has even been created, in which you can cast votes and let the developers know that players do not want the ability to trade items to be blocked. You can find it here.
