Riot Will be Deleting Accounts; Who May be Affected by the Purge?
Riot Games will delete inactive accounts. The criteria are very specific, so most players need not worry about accidentally losing their profile.
Riot Games has announcedt hat it will soon begin the process of deleting inactive League of Legends player accounts. The criteria that a profile must meet to be purged are very strict, so a significant part of the community need not worry about losing their accounts.
Inactive accounts
In the official message regarding account deletion, we can read that an account that has not been logged in for more than three years will be considered inactive. This refers not only to logging into the LoL client, but also accessing websites such as leagueoflegends.com, lolesports.com or valorantesports.com.
However, this is not the only rule that an account must meet in order to be deleted. In addition, Riot Games has set four other conditions:
- The account has not been used to purchase any in-game currency throughout its existence.
- The account has not been used to receive any in-game currency throughout its existence.
- The account has been used to play for less than 20 hours.
- The account does not store any rare limited in-game items.
When will Riot start deleting accounts?
The process is expected to begin within the next few months, and we can safely assume that it will last a long time. After all, in 2021, the game had 180 million active players. Interestingly, this figure consists only of people playing titles set in the world of Runeterra.
Nevertheless, if your account qualifies for deletion, Riot Games will also inform you by email. If you do not want to lose it, it will be possible to contact Player Support, where you will receive detailed instructions on how to keep your account.
Finally, it is worth noting that once your profile is deleted, all the data you have shared with Riot Games will, of course, disappear. You will also lose the ability to log in to the studio's affiliated websites (in addition to the aforementioned support.riotgames.com), apps and games.
