Returnal PC With Hefty Requirements; 32 GB RAM Recommended
We learned the system requirements of the PC version of Returnal. To enjoy the PS5 hit on PC, you will need a powerful rig.
During The Game Awards 2022 gala, the PC version of the excellent shooter Returnal was finally announced. Now the game's product card has been added to Steam along with the system requirements.
Returnal - minimum requirements
- Processor: Intel Core i5-6400 2.7 GHz (quad-core) / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X 3.5 GHz (quad-core)
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB / AMD Radeon RX 580 8 GB.
- RAM: 16 GB
- Disk space: 60 GB (SSD recommended)
- Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
Returnal - recommended requirements
- Processor: Intel i7-8700 3.7 GHz (six-core) / AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz (eight-core)
- Graphics card: Nvidia RTX 2070 Super 8 GB / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB.
- RAM: 32 GB
- Disk space: 60 GB (SSD recommended)
- Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
As you can see, the requirements are high. Especially the recommended configuration, with 32 GB of RAM, is surprising. It is worth noting that this is the first port of Sony's blockbuster, the original of which was released exclusively on the PlayStation 5. Previous titles ported to PC were also created with the PS4 in mind. Those waiting for the PC version of The Last of Us: Part I should therefore also prepare themselves for high requirements.
Recall that Returnal debuted on PlayStation 5 in April 2021. The game turned out to be a big success, receiving, among others, the BAFTA award for best game of the year.
Rumors of a PC release of the game had been circulating for several months. The first mention of a port appeared in September 2021. Then a list of upcoming games, including Returnal, to be available as in GeForce Now has leaked online. After that, similar reports appeared regularly. In June, some unofficial first screenshots from the PC version were shared, so its announcement at The Game Awards 2022 was no surprise.
Unfortunately, we still don't know when exactly the PC edition will be released. Sony only promises that we will not have to wait long - the release is scheduled for early 2023.
