Apex Legends Mobile Announced
Respawn announced Apex Legends Mobile, a smartphone version of the popular battle royale. The game will have changed controls and exclusive cosmetic items.
In a nutshell:
- Respawn's creative director announced the free game Apex Legends Mobile;
- The game's controls will be adapted to touch screens;
- The title will hit a test market in the spring, including India and the Philippines.
Respawn creative director Chad Grenier announced that the studio is working on Apex Legends Mobile, a mobile version of the popular battle royale. The title will be distributed in free-to-play model with optional microtransactions.
The game will not differ in gameplay from what can be experienced in Apex Legends. This means that up to 60 players will participate in matches, divided into 20 three-person teams. The most important change in comparison to the original is to be a new controls, adapted to touch screens. Due to this modification Apex Legends Mobile will not have the option of crossplay with PC and consoles.
The aforementioned microtransactions will offer only things that do not affect the gameplay. Among them we will find battle passes, cosmetic items and objects to unlock. Importantly, the items will differ from those found in Apex Legends.
At this point it is not known when most of the world will be able to try out Apex Legends Mobile. In the spring, the title will hit the test market covering India and the Philippines. In addition, it will be available only to owners of Android phones (version for iOS will appear later). Only after this stage the game will be made available to players from other regions of the world.
It is worth bearing in mind that Apex Legends enjoys great popularity. Just 4 days ago the devs informed that the number of user playing the title exceeded 100 million. In addition, on the occasion of today's announcement, it was revealed that in the near future we will receive information on the biggest update that has ever hit the game.
