Resident Evil Village is the Franchise's Biggest Hit in Recent Years
Capcom reports excellent sales figures for Resident Evil Village. The game is doing significantly better than the last few installments.
Capcom has reasons to be happy. The Japanese publisher announcedthat Resident Evil Village has already sold 4.5 million copies.
The game was released on May 7 this year on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Google Stadia. The game recorded an excellent debut. It took only a few days for Resident Evil Village to sell 3 million copies. By May 27th, this result rose to 4 million.
RE Village is selling even better than the hit Resident Evil 2. The newest installment of the series crossed the threshold of four million copies in less than three weeks after launch, while the remake of the second part needed a little over a month to achieve it. Only after eleven months did RE2 sell 5 million copies - Resident Evil Village will have no problem with beating this achievement it seems.
The latest installment in the series is doing even better when confronted with Resident Evil 3. Fifteen months have passed since its release, and during that time remake of the third game sold 4 million copies. RE Village achieved this result in just three weeks.
It is also worth reminding that Resident Evil VII: Biohazard needed ten months to cross the threshold of 4 million copies. Another point for Resident Evil Village
The good streak of the newest installment should continue for a long time. This month will see the release of Resident Evil RE:Verse, a free online module of Resident Evil Village, which enables us to play in six-player deathmatch battles. It was originally supposed to be released along with the main game, but its launch has been delayed. Moreover, the work on the first story DLC has already begun.
