Marvel Rivals is a new hero shooter that is set to launch its first season in January, and with it, the game is expected to feature new heroes – the Fantastic Four. For starters, we are to receive Reed Richards and Sue Storm. Interestingly, after the video of the one hero was released, a lot of emotions began to be generated by Mr. Fantastic. And this in a completely different fandom.

After Reed Richards' abilities were shown, Internet users began to see some similarities between him and Luffy, which is not at all surprising, the characters have very similar powers that make them extremely flexible. However, despite the fact that Reed is a character who was created long before Luffy, One Piece fandom began to accuse Marvel Rivals of copying the abilities of the hero of their favorite series, specifically the Gear 4 form, wondering if Mr. Fantastic had ever used his powers in a similar way in the comics, movies or TV series.

Indeed, the characters look similar, but can we really talk about copying from each other here? The curiosity of One Piece fandom was quickly satisfied by annoyed Fantastic Four fans, who didn't want to hear about Reed copying something from Luffy. So they started sharing frames in which we can see Mr. Fantastic in a form reminiscent of the one from Marvel Rivals, and thus similar to Luffy's Gear 4 as well.

One Piece fans, however, have noticed that there are also other references to Eiichiro Oda's work in the game. The Christmas card, which Marvel Rivals players were able to create after collecting special stars, features a snowman, who in one option is wearing a pink hat with antlers. OP fans pointed out how similar it is to Chopper's hat.

The makers of Marvel Rivals may not have expected how much excitement their upcoming character would generate, which has led to accusations of copying.
