Red Dead Redemption: The Outlaws Collection Raises Dying Hope for RDR Remaster
An alleged screenshot from Amazon is making rounds on the web, showing a removed offer of Red Dead Redemption: The Outlaws Collection. Unfortunately, everything seems to indicate that this „leak” is an obvious fake.
One can laugh that the entertainment industry has been dominated by the tendency to refresh iconic works, be it movies or games. However, it's hardly surprising, as it's often demanded by the audience themselves. Besides, remakes and remasters like the Crash Bandicoot trilogy or the new Demon's Souls show that the return of old heroes does not always have to be as bad as in the case of the tragic remake of XIII. So when a "leak" about Red Dead Redemption: The Outlaws Collection appeared on Twitter, some players were wery eager to believe in the debut of thefirst installment of the series in new robes. Unluckily for fans of John Marston, we're probably dealing with a fake.
What's wrong with this leak, is shown back Zack Zwiezen, an editor at Kotaku. The journalist draws attention to a common practice used in fan projects: selecting the first PNG graphics found on Google. Indeed, if we enter the phrases "Arthur Morgan RDR 2 PNG" and "John Marston PNG" in the search engine, the first place will be given to the images identical to those used on the cover of the alleged Red Dead Redemption collection.
Of course, this is not enough proof, as is the identical images of the sun on the cover of the alleged The Outlaws Collection and Red Dead Redemption 2. We've already had official covers, which - according to the players - looked like something made by scarcely talented 12-year olds. However, Zwiezen draws attention to a "small" detail. On the graphic from the leak we can see the trees in front of Arthur Morgan and John Marston, which do not match the rest of the cover. Apparently somebody forgot about it when combining several images or decided that it was not important - after all, people will only see what they want to see anyway.
There have been cases when a seemingly obvious fake turned out to be a genuine leak. But this time it seems that we can put Red Dead Redemption: The Outlaws Collection among fairy tales. That is why we always recommend to be careful with any unofficial information, even if it seems much more reliable than the image described in the text. If the RDR collection is still planned by Rockstar Games, for the time being the company hasn't given up on its intentions. Nevertheless, let's hope that such plans exist, because the comments on the web clearly show that fans would receive the announcement of a remake of the original Red Dead Redemption with open arms.
