Red Dead Online - Vanishing Camps Drive Players Crazy
A camp-related bug, which has long been present in Red Dead Online, makes life very difficult for some players. The bug causes camp sites to disappear for no reason or prevents camps to be set up at all.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- A bug in RDR2 causes the campsites to disappear, or prevents it from being spawned or interacted with;
- In some situations, the problem can be quiet irritating;
- The error remains unpatched for over a year.
The players of Red Dead Online - the online mode of Red Dead Redemption 2 by Rockstar Games - are strongly annoyed by bugs related to the operation of campsites. Camps sometimes disappear for no reason after logging in again. What's more, even when they're present, we often can't interact with them. There are numerous threads on Redditdevoted the matter.
"Yup, it's a shame we need to go through a damn checklist before actually doing anything. Is camp present? Can it be interacted with? Fast travel to shine shack... Can I get into the shine shack?," complains -Dr_Detroit-
"The second you set foot out of the camp it can disappear. Has been happening to me lately all the time - it's getting pretty difficult to run a successful trader business since more than often when you try to ride back to your camp to donate a full horse of hunted animals to Cripps, the camp icon is there but there's nothing where the camp should be. Relocating the camp doesn't work, and there's literally no other option than to join the server again and lose all the shit you had," describes isengrims.
What seems to be important here is how we log in to the game - some players indicate that starting to play in the camp almost always results in problems, as opposed to free exploration. In some situations, the dog, or rather its absence in the camp, is a signal that something is wrong.
"When I spawn in my camp & the dog isn't there, I know to load into a new session. If the dog isn't there, as soon as I leave camp, Cripps packs up the camp & disappears, and I can't spawn it again," notes rbrowning79.
Interestingly, the reports about the bug have been appearing for a very long time - some of the tthreads devoted to the subject are more than a year old. In this situation, it is hardly surprising that some players are slowly losing patience with the developers - especially since the bug has a real impact on the pleasure of gameplay.
"Bug fixes and solo lobbies is all I ask for at this point. Although if they fixed all the bugs, solo lobbies would be less of a necessity and more just a nice thing to have," writes dearcrushed.
