PS5 Slim Revealed During FTC Hearing? Expected to Launch This Year
The case of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard has brought us information on Sony's plans. They show that the Japanese company plans to release the PS5 Slim soon. What's also interesting, we learned the possible release date and the price of the device.
The trial related to Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard has so far provided us with a lot of interesting information, which has included as yet unannounced titles or publisher perception of Game Pass. Now the hearing has provided us with further revelations. It reveals that Sony is planning to release the PS5 Slim. The release of the device is expected to come sooner than we think (via Game Rant).
In the documents from the trial there was only a small mention of Sony's new console. Only two things emerge from it:
- The PS5 Silm is expected to be released later this year.;
- The model is expected to cost $399 in the United States, which is exactly the same as the PS5 Digital.
Other than that, we don't know any other information about the new console. Only the name itself suggests that we will be dealing with a smaller version of the PlayStation 5. Will this detract from the power of the device? That remains to be seen.

Rumors of a new console variant from Sony have been circulating for quite some time. Recent revelations from Tom Henderson, however, suggested that it was about the PS5 Pro. So it is possible that the Japanese company is currently working on two new variants of its device.
