Takashi Mochizuki, a tech journalist at The Wall Street Journal, has made a phone call to Sony Interactive Entertainment's public relations department. Thanks to this conversation, we know that PlayStation 5 will not be available for the next 12 months. The information has been published on Twitter.
The journalist adds in the next tweet that Sony is currently gives the above message in response to any questions about the release date of PlayStation 5. Reports suggest that the new device may be released only at the end of 2020 - most likely in late autumn (as the release in the middle of the year seems unlikely). It is worth noting that Digitimes has recently provided similar information.
Let us recall that thanks to a rather unexpected interview with Mark Cerny, we have recently learned quite a lot about the specifications of Sony's new platform. The console will be built with AMD components (Zen 2-based processor and modified GPU from the Navi family) and offer, among others, the ability to display images in 8K resolution, as well as support for ray tracing. According to rumors, the Japanese machine will be weaker than the new Xbox.
