Rumor: IO Interactive's Project Dragon is a TPP Hack'n'slash
Additional rumors about Project Dragon, an unannounced fantasy game from the devs of the Hitman series, appeared in the web. It seems that it will be a TPP hack'n'slash.
Yesterday we informed about interesting rumors concerning the so-called Project Dragon, a new fantasy game by Hitman devs at IO Interactive, which is being developed in cooperation with Microsoft. These speculations should be approached with caution, but now another source has confirmed the information and added some fresh details to the previous reports.
These come from the usually well-informed journalist Jeff Grubb, who works at Venture Beat. He said that since information about the project has already started leaking out, he would reveal what he knows about IO Interactive's new title. According to him, Project Dragon is a game with mechanics reminiscent of the Diablo series, but with action shown from TPP. So it follows that we'll get a hack'n'slash action RPG.
These details are modest, but the fact that Jeff Grubb also heard about the game, makes its existence seem more likely than yesterday, when the title was first reported by Windows Central. Earlier these reports were also confirmed by Eurogamer's sources, so there's definitely something to it.
IO Interactive's head reported some time ago that in addition to Project 007, the team is working on something new, which is supposed to be a dream come true for studio's veterans. From the job advertisements it seems that it will be a high-budget AAA title.
A few weeks ago IO Interactive announced that a new branch of the studio, located in Barcelona, is being established. The previously existing teams in Copenhagen and Malmo are working on Project 007 and the development of Hitman III. So it seems likely that the Spanish branch has been created in order to deal with the unannounced fantasy game.
