Project 1v1 is apparently Gearbox Software's new competitive online game
Project 1v1 is apparently a new competitive game from Gearbox Software, which has already got an official website. This one will combine online combat with elements of a card game.
Gearbox Software has teased another of its upcoming games, besides the next incarnation of Brothers in Arms. According to that game’s description found on its official website (thanks, Shacknews!), “Project 1v1 is the code name for Gearbox’s top-secret, in-development, competitive first-person shooter that combines the action of fast-paced 1v1 first-person combat with the metagame strategy of a collectible card game”. So far we don’t know how exactly the duels are going to look like (or what the role of cards will be for that matter), but the game’s website’s stylistics clearly hints at a sci-fi setting.
Project 1v1 is apparently far into development, as Gearbox is planning to run a Closed Technical Test this summer, which is aimed at testing online infrastructure and getting feedback from players when it comes to gameplay and content. There will be three game modes tested: Ranked, where you earn experience and gain new cards, Challenge, or a friendly match, and Arena, which will put you up against the current champion and give a chance of taking their place.
If you want to participate, sign up on the official website. Note, however, that the test will be held on North American servers, so players from other regions may experience lags.
