Predator 5 in the Works; Director and Screenwriter Revealed
Predator will be back. 20th Century Studios is planning the fifth part of the iconic SF series, with the director of Cloverfield Lane 10 behind the camera. We also know the movie's writer.
Deadline announced that Disney's 20th Century Studios is preparing to produce the fifth installment of the Predator series, which originally dates back to 1987. It was then that the first movie, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, was released. In total, we have seen four productions (not counting the Alien vs. Predator sub-series) of often average flicks, and the latest one was released just two years ago and received poor reviews (see Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic). Despite this, 20th Century Studios wants to give Predator another chance. The new movie will be made by Dan Trachtenberg, director of Cloverfield Lane 10 and the recently popular superhero series The Boys from Amazon.
We also got to know the name of the screenwriter of Predator 5. It will be written by Patrick Aison, who previously worked on such series as Kingdom, Wayward Pines and Jack Ryan. According to Deadline, the story will not refer to the previous movie. Officially, the outline of the plot is kept strictly confidential, but according to unconfirmed reports, we may have to deal with a reboot created under the working name Skulls, in which we will learn about the fate of "a woman from the Comanche tribe who opposes all gender norms and traditions to become a true warrior". The action would take place before the settlers conquered Native American territories.
One of the producers of the new movie about the space hunter will be John Davis, who also contributed to the previous movies, including the 1987 original. The release date of Predator 5 is not yet known, but it can be expected that it will not happen soon.
