PoE 2 launches today in Early Access. Devs thank players and have concerns about servers
More than a million people have already used Path of Exile 2's Early Access keys, and the developers have concerns about how the game's servers will handle such an influx of players.
Already 1 million players are preparing to participate in the Early Access of Path of Exile 2 – to the joy, but also concern of the developers. Creators from Grinding Gear Games studio boasted about this in a special video featuring Jonathan Rogers.
The co-founder of the team admitted that it's great news, but also a potential problem. It turns out that the studio didn't expect that at least a million people would try to access the game servers at the same time, and the devs had warned in advance about possible queues when attempting to join the game.
The developer quickly decided to purchase additional cloud server capacity. However, Rogers still has concerns about whether the PoE 2 "backend" will be able to cope with the large number of people eager to test out Early Access. Especially since the sale of packages enabling participation in Early Access is still increasing.
The dev didn't forget to say thank you to the players for this unexpected success and promised that Grinding Gear Games would work hard to solve any server issues. It appears that the "conflagration" has already engulfed the studio's office, at least judging by one of the latest posts.
The Early Access of Path of Exile 2 will start today at 11:00 a.m. PT. The preload has already started on Steam (84 GB), Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The separate game client should already be available for download on the official game website (approximately 86GB). There you will also find a section with the most important information about Early Access.
