Player Recreates Cintra in The Witcher 3 with New Story Set Before Book Saga. Prologue is Already Available
Moder is making fans' dreams of the kingdom of Cintra in The Witcher come true. It's already clear that he's preparing something truly remarkable.
Today is the last day to submit mods to the Redkit Modding Contest, and as always, the players are saving the best for last. And this time, just before the finish line, a few really strong competitors appeared, who in our opinion have a good chance of winning.
The mod we will present today impresses with its scope (at least at the concept level). The player decided to recreate the kingdom of Cintra and announced that this is just the beginning - the project is in the early stages of development and is to become an entire story saga called Tales of the Witcher.
Sentimental return to the past
The expansion's action takes place before the plot known from the books. At the moment, there are two side quests available that serve as a prologue to the whole story. The city itself is at this stage just a teaser of what the user is planning - in the future, he is also to rebuild the leveling system, the combat system, and even add character progression. New locations are also planned. We can expect references to the first and second parts of The Witcher – the modder is to add combat animations based on those known from the second part, additionally the music heard in the trailer comes from the first game.
This is not the end of the interesting facts – the player based the city's design on the layout of Khorinis. This is of course a nod to the legendary Gothic and those players who long for old RPGs, where a lot depended on exploration itself and discovering new corners of the map.
The main idea of the modification is to create an immersive experience that encourages players to freely explore and fully immerse themselves in the world of The Witcher. TotW aims to promote a slower style of gameplay and play a so-called "witcher simulator" in which the key is simply carrying out contracts on monsters.

The mod has been available since yesterday on NexusMods and functions as a separate DLC, which needs to be launched from the new game menu. Although there have been quite a few positive comments, it seems that there are a few problems with the gameplay balance. Regardless, it's worth keeping an eye on - it could be one of the most interesting expansions The Witcher fans have ever created.
