Petroglyph announce 8-bit Invaders, due this November
Petroglyph's 8-bit RTS series is soon going to get another installment. Set in a sci-fi universe, 8-bit Invaders will feature new factions and maps as well as enhanced game modes.
After having released Command & Conquer-inspired 8-bit Armies back in April 2016 and its Warcraft-inspired follow-up 8-bit Hordes a couple of months later, Petroglyph are currently working on 8-bit Invaders, a fast-paced retro real-time strategy, which takes much after StarCraft. This next chapter in the 8-bit series will bring two new factions and sci-fi maps this November. When it’s out, you will be able to pick it up for $14.99 on Steam.
8-bit Invasion is going to feature 24-mission single-player campaign with two new playable factions: Galactic Marine Corps and an alien race of Cranioids. As always, the game will be based on easy-to-learn-difficult-to-master core RTS mechanics: collect resources, build an army and send it against your opponent.
Apart from learning the ropes in the solo play, you will be able to team up with a friend against AI-controlled enemy in 10 co-op missions or fight in 2, 4, 6, or 8-player skirmish battles. Interestingly, 8-bit Invaters will offer cross-play with the two previous games: 8-bit Armies and 8-bit Hordes. Another noteworthy feature will be Conquer The Multiverse metagame with “prebuilt and procedurally generated scenarios for endless opportunities to invade new worlds”. Note also that Petroglyph is the team that gave us Star Wars: Empire at War, Universe at War, and Grey Goo, so their experience in making great RTS games is unquestionable.
