A real-time strategy created by Petroglyph studio. The players are taken to a futuristic universe, taking control of the Galactic Marine Corps or the ravenous race of Cranoids. The gameplay focuses on two pillars: first is the expansion of the headquarters, gathering resources, and acquisition of more and more advanced units and upgrades.

TechRaptor: 6 / 10 by Alec Blouin
Stands out purely on aesthetics and is fueled by nostalgic charm, but lacks any staying power or complexity. 8-bit Invaders is a good pick for fans of the genre or beginners who want to get into RTS, but is otherwise unfulfilling.
Screen Rant: 3 / 5 by Rob Gordon
8-Bit Invaders for PS4 is a charming real-time strategy game that has plenty of character but stumbles in delivery of a thrilling strategy experience.
PowerUp!: 7.4 / 10 by Leo Stevenson
Overall, this is a great console RTS and another excellent port from Petroglyph. Definitely worthwhile if you're a fan of the others.
8-bit Invaders Description
8-bit Invaders for PC is a real-time strategy game modeled after the biggest hits of the genre that had been released in the 90s. The game is the third installment of 8-bit series, which had been conceived in 2016. The developer responsible for the game is Petroglyph, an experienced American developing studio, responsible for titles such as Star Wars: Empire at War, Universe at War: Earth Assault, and Grey Goo.
Mechanics
8-bit Invaders for PC is a classic real-time strategy, mixing the best elements of the genre. The developers directly modeled the game after the first installment of StarCraft series. The title takes the players to a science-fiction universe, were human space marines and an alien race of Cranoids constantly fight for dominance. 8-bit Invaders offers a classic gameplay, focusing on resource gathering, base building, and creating a huge number of units that are used to completely annihilate the enemy forces and buildings. It should be mentioned that in the relation to the predecessor, the developers introduced a completely new economic system, and replaced superweapons with so called epic units.
Game Modes
The single players will take part in a large campaign containing 24 missions with increasing difficulty level. Additionally, they can participate in 10 cooperation levels, and try their luck in Conquer The Multiverse, a new mode that offers infinite number of randomly generated scenarios. A major part of 8-bit Invaders is the multiplayer mode, intended for up to eight players. The title allows for joint games between owners of 8-bit Armies and 8-bit Hordes.
Technical Aspects
8-bit Invaders for PC employs the same engine used by the other 8-bit series games. Even if the game offers a world completely different from its predecessors, it maintains the characteristic cartoony and colorful visual style. The visuals are complemented by a destructible environment and the soundtrack composed by Frank Klepacki, the employee of the legendary Westwood Studios.
