PC Market in Numbers - Sales of Traditional PC Increasing
PCs are doing better and better on the market. For the sixth consecutive quarter, PC sales have increased.
- The PC market is growing for the sixth consecutive quarter;
- Lenovo remains the leader;
- HP sharply dropped;
- Dell with impressive growth.
Analyst group IDC released a report summarizing the global traditional PC market performance in the third quarter of this year. Sales of desktops, laptops, and workstations reached 86.7 million units, an increase of 3.9% over the same period last year.
This is the sixth consecutive quarter that the PC market has experienced sales growth. Analysts point out that the category's potential is even greater, but problems with parts availability mean that manufacturers are unable to fully meet demand.
Lenovo remains the sales leader. HP is still in second place, but Dell is right on its heels and the two companies may soon swap places.
It's worth noting that IDC's data includes only finished computers. They do not include purchased sub-assemblies or user purchases that include parts for hardware upgrades.
