PayDay 2 microtransaction content is now acquirable for free
Intorducing microtransactions to PayDay 2 was not the best move from Overkill Software. After a wave of rage from fans, the studio decided to allow players to obtain paid content for free.
Looks like Overkill Software yielded under pressure of their fanbase. Last week a storm raised around introduction of microtransactions to PayDay 2, despite the developer had promised never to do that. The online co-op shooter started to offer players randomly dropped safes with exclusive gameplay-affecting content (weapon skins with boosts), however, these could only be unlocked with drills purchased with real money. That obviously enraged the community, leading to a heated outcry over the Internet.
Fortunately, the studio did not remain deaf to fans’ comments and in the latest game update they added free drills as rewards for completing a heist. To sum up, microtransactions are still there – you can buy a drill from the Steam Market – but they are not the only way to open the safes.
