Path of Exile will soon receive another expansion, titled Scourge. It was revealed on yesterday's broadcast, during which a lot of information about the expansion was provided and a trailer was presented. You can find the material below.
The main attraction of the expansion will be the eponymous Scourge. No, it's not about the invasion of zombies or other undead, but an army of demons from hell. However, we won't find them just like that during the exploration of the world of Wraeclast. After the launch of the expansion, our character will receive a new item: The Blood Crucible. This, as the name suggests, will be filled with the blood of enemies defeated by the hero.
After collecting a sufficient amount of red liquid we'll be able to move to an alternative, ruined version of Wraeclast, overrun by infernal creatures. The more blood we collect, the longer we'll be able to stay in this incinerated world, which translates into more valuable rewards - as long as we survive the increasingly difficult clashes with hordes of demons. In addition, The Blood Crucible will enable you to defile items, giving them powerful modifiers (and curses, or negative effects). The process will be repeatable until we get the combination we are interested in.
Path of Exile: Scourge will also bring with it new gems, such as the tornado (which we'll be able to set on fire or enhance with another element) and the destructive sword of energy. In addition, the devs once again reworked the game balance. This will translate, for example, into changes related to passive abilities, some of which are currently very rarely used by the players. Many of the more niche "perks" will disappear from the skill tree - but not completely, because icons representing special masteries will appear instead. These will give us access to six bonuses after buying the first passive "skill" from a particular branch.
Grinding Gear Games also mentioned changes to PoE's endgame content, the introduction of expedition league to the base game, improvements to the atlas planned for next year and many other new things that we will see in the coming months.
The launch of Path of Exile: Scourge will take place on October 22 on PC and October 27 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
