600 Monsters, 1500 Passive Skills; Path of Exile 2 Delights and Overwhelms
Thanks to ExileCon 2023, we learned a lot of new things about Path of Exile 2, as well as got to see fresh footage from the project (including a lengthy gameplay video).
The next edition of ExileCon 2023, an event for Path of Exile fans, organized by Grinding Gear Games, has been launched.
- So far, the biggest highlight of the event has been the flood of new materials and information about Path of Exile 2.
- The devs released a new trailer for the sequel and an extensive gameplay video, lasting almost half an hour - so you are in for a long and interesting screening. You can watch both videos below
- The developers also announced that they have changed their plans for PoE2. The game will no longer be just an expansion to the first part. Instead, both installments are to be independent, separate games with unique gameplay balance, different mechanics and expansions. As a result, players will still have access to the first Path of Exile, even after the release of the sequel.
- What will be common is to be the purchases made by players, so everything we acquire in one of these games will also be usable in the other.
- We also learned a lot about what will be offered by Path of Exile 2. The game will feature 12 character classes - six from the first PoE and six new ones.
- The sequel will feature more than a hundred new bosses, approx. 100 "unique environments," more than 600 monsters, and 1,500 passive and 240 active abilities.
- The sequel will offer a completely revamped gem system, as well as previously unknown weapon types.
- The game will offer a six-player cooperative mode.
- In Path of Exile 2 we will also find a six-act long story campaign, which will begin two decades after Kitava's death.
- All character classes will be able to perform rolls.
As a final reminder, closed beta of Path of Exile 2 is scheduled to launch on June 7, next year.
