Isometric RPG Paranoia Launched and Vanished 4 Years Ago, Now It's Back on Steam
Just before Christmas, Paranoia: Happiness Is Mandatory unexpectedly returned to sale. It's an RPG that was removed from distribution a few years ago just weeks after its release.
After several years,Paranoia: Happiness Is Mandatory, an RPG based on the license of a tabletop role-playing game has unexpectedly returned to sale.
- The game is available on Steam and Epic Games Store.
We do not know under what exact circumstances the game is back on sale. Recall that the title originally debuted in December 2019 on Epic Games Store, and a few weeks later was withdrawn from distribution at the request of Greg Costikyan and Eric Goldberg, i.e. the fathers of the tabletop version of Paranoia. They decided to take such a step because of its dire technical condition, which would have damaged the brand's reputation. Ultimately, the case ended up in court, and the fact that the game is back on sale suggests that the parties finally came to an agreement, or there was some kind of judgment that made it possible to sell the title again.
I'm just curious if what you can buy now is identical to the version removed from distribution several years ago, or if in the meantime the publisher (Nacon) and the developer (Cyanide) have fixed many of the problems plaguing Paranoia: Happiness Is Mandatory. The first comments on Steam forum suggest that, unfortunately, the former option is more likely.
