Outriders Devs Hope to Create Major Story Expansions
Bartek Kmita from People Can Fly admitted in an interview that the developers are interested in creating new content for Outriders. It would take the form of large, feature-packed expansions, telling completely new stories.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- People Can Fly would like to create large, story-driven expansions for Outriders;
- Inspiration for the game and future content comes mainly from the Diablo series.
Last week, the looter shooter from developer People Can Fly and publisher Square Enix - Outriders - launched on the market. The game attracted a lot of players (despite the problems with servers) and it looks like it's quite a success. In an interview with Forbes, the studio's creative director Bartek Kmita admits that the developers would love to create big story expansions for this title.
"We have so many more stories to tell, and a lot of ideas we want to explore that we couldn’t fit in the original game, so we’re happy to create more content in the future. Anything we would make would be in the form of significant expansions with self-contained stories," the developer stated.
Interestingly, the inspiration for the future content - as well as Outriders itself - is the Diablo series. Kmita admits that it's where "everything started".
"For inspiration, everything started with Diablo, which we still regard as best in class. We wanted to use Diablo as reference, not really other games from our genre.," noted the developer.
Outriders is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S (on Microsoft platforms we can also play the title by paying for the Xbox Game Pass subscription).
