Operation: Black Mesa Will Combine Refreshed Half-Life Opposing Force and Blue Shift
Fans of the Half-Life series have another reason to rejoice. Fan group known as Tripmine Studios has announced that the remakes of Half-Life: Opposing Force and Half-Life: Blue Shift will be combined into a single production.
According to DSOGaming, the group known as Tripmine Studios - responsible for fan remakes of expansions for the iconic Half Life - has decided to combine their projects. Instead of separate, refreshed versions of Opposing Force and Blue Shift Tripmine Studios will develop one package in the form of Operation: Black Mesa.
What can we expect from this set? As we read on the game's tab on Steam, OBM will offer two single player campaigns. The setting is to be a well-known research facility, and events in which we'll take part will take place at the time of the Black Mesa incident.
Tripmine Studios also revealed some key aspects of the gameplay. Namely, the set will offer:
- Two single player campaigns with expanded gameplay and new content;
- A host of engine enhancements and many new graphical effects;
- Dynamic combat with over 30 unique enemy types;
- Approximately twenty weapons to suit all play styles;
- Two soundtracks;
- Expanded narrative elements that connect to the story of Half-Life;
- Customizable gameplay with a mod-friendly toolkit.
Unfortunately, we don't know yet the exact release date of Operation: Black Mesa. However, if you would like to refresh your experience with Half-Life right now (and you haven't yet), then be sure to check out another fan remake - Black Mesa, which is an improvement of the original from 1998.
