For many manga and anime fans, One Piece holds a special place in their hearts. These fans often spend countless hours analyzing every panel and written word. The creator of the manga, Eiichiro Oda, is known for including subtle nods and references throughout the series, which is one of the reasons he’s so highly respected by fans. Recently, one fan spotted a detail connected to Luffy’s legendary and iconic Straw Hat.

Special meaning of Luffy’s Straw Hat

Luffy’s Straw Hat was given to him by Shanks and carries deep significance. When Shanks handed over the hat, Luffy promised to return it once he became a great pirate. Throughout Luffy’s adventures, the hat has become the symbol of his crew, fittingly named the "Straw Hat Pirates."

On X a fan revealed an interesting piece of trivia: Luffy is always wearing his Straw Hat when he’s fulfilling his role as captain:

Not very useful trivia: Luffy always wears his hat when he is performing his duties as a captain.

This fun fact might not seem particularly significant at first, but it could hint at something deeper. We know that Roger, the first Pirate King, gave the Straw Hat to Shanks, who later passed it on to Luffy. So, there might be a deeper reason why Luffy always wears his hat when fulfilling his duties as captain. Additionally, we know that Joyboy, from 900 years ago, also had a Straw Hat, which was much larger than Luffy’s. I believe there’s a hidden meaning behind the hat that will be revealed as we get closer to the end of the manga.

Recently, we received some news about the upcoming hiatus of the One Piece anime. The anime will be on break until April 2024. However, Toei Animation has something special in store for fans—a newly refreshed version of the Fish-Man Island arc. Additionally, Shueisha has announced that the One Piece manga will also take a short break, from October 21st to November 10th.
