OD is Hideo Kojima's New Game; Coming to Microsoft Consoles
OD, a new game by Hideo Kojima, was announced at The Game Awards. Microsoft is funding the project, and director Jordan Peele is involved.
It turns out that Death Stranding 2 is not the only game Kojima Productions is currently working on. Indeed, during The Game Awards event, Hideo Kojima revealed the project called OD.
The game's trailer did not reveal too many details. What we do know is that one of the main roles will be played by Sophia Lillis, an actress known for such movies as It and It Chapter 2. Hunter Schafer and Udo Kier will also appear. Horror movie director Jordan Peele is also involved in the creation of the project. His works include Get Out, Us and Nope.
The trailer gave us a peek at the impressive facial animation system. On top of that, Hideo Kojima promises that the project will not be just a game, but also a "new type of entertainment medium," whatever that means.
In OD the developers have thus abandoned the familiar Decima engine used in Death Stranding in favor of Unreal Engine 5. The game is being financed by Microsoft's Xbox Game Studio, so the game is expected to come only to PC and Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles.
