Nintendo Doing Well. Impressive Sales of Super Mario Bros. Wonder and New Zelda
Nintendo has released its financial statement for the third quarter of fiscal year 2024. The giant from Kyoto is doing extremely well, as evidenced by the frenzied sales of games from the Japanese camp.
Nintendo has released its fiscal 2024 third quarter results. Despite the lack of a debut of new technology in the form of Switch 2, the Japanese giant is still doing great.
Nintendo's consolidated revenue for the current fiscal year amounted to 1.39 trillion yen (approx. $9.4 billion), which means an almost 8% increase compared to last year. Thus, the Japanese company achieved an operating profit of 464.4 billion yen (approx. $3.1 billion).
During the period in question, digital sales especially skyrocketed (an increase of 11.7% year-on-year) and the "mobile/IP" segment, which gained thanks to the premiere of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Switch on its way to topple DS
On the occasion of the report's publication, we learned the latest data on Switch sales. In the last 9 months, Nintendo hardware has sold 13.74 million units, which means that the total sales of the device are already 139.36 million units (when taking into consideration Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite). The Japanese console is therefore close to beating the DS's score (154.02 million).
Additionally, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa assured that Switch will remain the main driving force of the Japanese company in 2024.
To confirm these words, we received a graphic (below), presenting the upcoming publishing plans of the giant from Kyoto. There we can read about the imminent release of Mario vs. Donkey Kong and Princess Peach: Showtime games.
