Great Sales Results of NieR: Automata

NieR: Automata continues to impress. This exquisite action RPG has already moved more than seven million copies.

PlatinumGames has reason to be pleased. The team boasted that sales of NieR: Automata exceeded 7.5 million copies.

This result includes all hardware platforms and it took the game six years to achieve it. NieR: Automata debuted in February 2017 on PlayStation 4, and the PC version was released a few weeks later. The following year, the game was ported to the Xbox One console. Meanwhile, a Nintendo Switch edition was released in October 2022.

PlatinumGames' biggest success

The game is the biggest success in the output of PlatinumGames. Not only did it turn out to be a bestseller, but it was also very warmly received by the trade media. On OpenCritic the average of reviews is 89%. Reviewers praised mainly the great combat system, the extraordinary storyline and the unique atmosphere of the title.

Also the gamers liked NieR: Automata. On Steam 86% of user reviews praised the game, which is categorized as a "very positive" reception.

The success led the devs to release in 2021 NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139...., a refreshed version of the earlier installment of the series. This game was also quite popular - within two months of its release sales exceeded one million copies.
