NFS Unbound Car List Lacks Toyota

The developers of Need for Speed Unbound have shared a list of cars that will appear in their game. It shows that we will not have Toyota and Audi cars at our disposal.

The list includes nearly 150 cars, but no models from brands such as Toyota or Audi. This may come as a bit of a surprise, as they have appeared more than once in previous installments, at least when it comes to Audi, whose two models were available from the launch in Need for Speed: Heat.

Fans seem to be quite displeased by this fact, as can be seen from the comments on Reddit. The Toyota issue has been more or less known to car enthusiasts for a couple of years now. There has been some confusion about it, about which you can read more, for example, here. Initially, the manufacturer took the position that it did not want to advertise illegal racing - which is, after all, what EA's series is about.

The above tweet is no longer available - only a response from the Need for Speed account. The Japanese corporation issued a statement later, in which it apologized for the inappropriate statement and clarified that it has no plans to license games other than Gran Turismo. This has changed over time, as Toyota cars have found a place for themselves, for example, in Forza Horizon 4, and then in Forza Horizon 5 (in Gran Turismo 7 as well, of course).

The situation wouldn't be complete without memes. The community laughs at how Need for Speed Unbound stands apart from the rest of racing games in terms of content. There is also no shortage of jokes of gamers, who are likely to suddenly start appreciating the previous installment, which they previously cursed.
